Who is Heath Marshall?

Heath Marshall is a big man, with a big heart and a big passion for music! A self taught musician, former professional basketball player, automotive mechanic, electrician, navy cadet, small business owner, foster carer and all round nice guy. Heath has experienced a lot in life and he pours these experiences into his music in such a way that his audience can’t get enough!

Growing up was an adventure for Heath, as his father was in the Royal Australian Air Force and moving around was part of life for Heath, his mother and three brothers. Being born in Tasmania, Heath has lived in every state in Australia except for two! With these experiences and having a father who fixed everything you could think of, from the kitchen sink to rebuilding the engine in the family car, it is no wonder Heath has developed the skills and way of thinking that makes him who he is today.

Playing his first ever show in front of a live audience on a bar stool with acoustic in hand only five years ago, Heath has pushed himself into becoming the amazing one man band he is today. Spending hours upon hours teaching himself how to sing, play several styles of guitar and building his own custom percussion arrangements, there is no doubt Heath means business, and it shows! In this short amount of time, Heath has played with the likes of the Fumes, Adam Hole and the Marji Curran Trio, hanging out with great musicians such as the Black keys and the Vasco Era to name a few.

Combining his love for the strings and drums, Heath manages to connect with his instruments, especially his vocals, to bring a raw, bluesy, all out ballsy sound to the stage, and he rocks the place the only way he knows how…. LOUD!

Heath’s style of music is not your typical run of the mill blues. It derives from many influences and can wander off into all sorts of moods, from campfire ballads to “knock your head off” rock’n'roll! That’s the beauty of a Heath Marshall show, you don’t know what he’ll pull out next, but you’re guaranteed to move your body and forget all your troubles.

Now situated in Fremantle, Western Australia, Heath has built himself quite a following all over the state from North to South, playing shows in popular original venues such as the Fly by Night club, Mojos, The Charles Hotel and many more. And now touring back on the East Coast and very quickly making a name for himself as a person not to miss! After recording his first solo CD entitled “Up to Fate”, with three tracks getting to numbers 1,3 and 5 on the TripleJ Unearthed Charts, Heath is now recording his first full length album. Look out 2011!
